I can’t help but grin at your comments beside the two social studies texts. When researching what to do this year for second grade, I decided after looking at them at the curriculum fair, they (second grade levels of them) were very dry and boring so I didn’t even bother ordering. I went with WinterPromise’s American Story 1. We just started this week but already we’re enjoying it. There’s lots of historical fiction and some non-fiction, short topical books, and wonderful activities. Plus, the guidebook makes it easy to teach.
